You know, toys from the ’80s and early ’90s were cool, but today’s kids really have it made. Case in point, while Mom, Dad and Auntie Christina might be lusting after the iPad, the Pre-K family members get their own tablets. Gizmodo got to play with the Fisher-Price iXL at Toy Fair and it looks adorable.
Because this is Fisher-Price, this toy definitely has a educational component. The stylus-controlled touchscreen includes little applications for reading, drawing, handwriting, and art and music.

Just like the iPad and iPhoneiPhone
, the device can work in different orientations (a digital monkey apparently chimes in when you need to turn the device) and additional programs will be available to download and transfer via USB or the built-in SD slot.
At $79.99, this could be a big hit when it hits shelves in October — just in time for Christmas. I love seeing touchscreen technology coming to kids educational toys. What do you think?
